For the past year I've been pouring my heart and time into sermons and learning the bible, but lately I've felt drained. It's like I have been listening to the teachings, but I haven't been hearing them. Like I'm a sponge that is so full of water I cant soak up anything else.

I was running late to church this past Wednesday; When I walked in they were singing worship music. I was so ready for the sermon, but they kept singing song after song. As they were singing I was thinking about how I didn't even really like worship music. I use to show up late to church so I could purposely miss the music, and get down to the sermon. I never understood why each song was 4-5 minutes long. It would bring me into a day dream and cause me to think about everything else but the Lord.

As I was sitting there, thinking about how ready I was for the music to be over, I heard God speak to me. He said; "Lindsey, this night is to give you relief." I felt like he was telling me to take a break, and just enjoy his presence.  I kid you not 30 seconds later my friend Alex looked at me and said, "I feel like tonight is relief for everyone in the room."

My eyes got as big as grapefruits, and I told her that I had just heard the same thing. After we exchanged exciting looks the pastor came over the microphone to tell us that the game plan for the night was to have a night of worship; just listening to songs and glorifying God. And that we did.

Speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord.

Ephesians 5:19

It's taken me a long time to get into worship music. Sometimes I still struggle, but I wanted to share my playlist, my favorite songs, and my friend's favorite songs.

I once heard a pastor say that when he leaves his home he turns on the Christian channel so sermons can play while he isn't there. He doesn't want the enemy to ever have an opportunity to step into his home. The past few months when I've felt attacked, or felt like there was heaviness in the air I have turned on worship music and have just let it play. I've always felt the air get a little lighter. Sometimes we dont have strength to pray .; it's like everything is against you and praying takes too much energy. I recommend turning the music on, and letting your mind wonder.
